Philosophy

My philosophy is simple - to create an environment that is a true reflection of my client.

To achieve this, it is essential during the client interview to observe and listen attentively to get a sense of the client, their style and their expectations of the designer, as well as, the project. The client's requests, carefully assessed, assist in providing a functional yet beautiful and innovative design.

Careful planning, patience, client involvement and adherence to budget will produce beautiful results and a satisfying experience for the most discriminating client.

Scope of practice
Residential, commercial, medical offices in Buffalo and Western New York

MISSION

It is important for clients to understand the profession and practice of interior design. There are so many misconceptions people have regarding the profession of interior design.

The public tends to think that an interior designer arbitrarily picks a color because it is the latest trend or accessorizes a room to fill up the empty spaces. There needs to be a reason for everything in a room to exist- even the color. Shape, proportion, scale are all considered. The architectural style is always taken into account, in a new build or renovation.

Another misconception people have is that a designer will inflict their design aesthetic on them. I prefer the classic and timeless aesthetic of traditional design but with a modern twist. It should be discreet, uncluttered, and free of superfluous decoration. It should be luxurious yet understated. Yet as a designer, I understand that is not everyone's idea of a welcoming and comfortable environment. Some clients prefer sparse and others enjoy the opposite end of the spectrum. This is why the client interview is so important. And more so when a client does not have a preconceived idea of what they want. Some client's have an idea of how they want their environment to look. As a designer, I will take a client's vision and hone it.

There will always be new trends, the must have new color, light fixture or sofa. Not everyone can afford to replace or redesign every year in order to have the latest trend. If you start with good design from the beginning, something you love and pleases it will endure. When updates are necessary they may be minimal and cost effective.
